A 37 year old Chicago woman who uses Sildenafil Citrate (generic Viagra) regularly says that unlike with men, Viagra in women can cause a noticeable sensation when you take it. “It felt like there was a tingling down there,” she says. “I could almost feel the increase in blood flow. It felt like there was an increase in sensitivity. It was quite exciting!”
The woman’s doctor gave her Viagra after a hysterectomy made it nearly impossible to have an orgasm. She says Viagra has given her about 75% of her sexual function back. The intensity of orgasm “is not quite as strong as before,” she said. “But it does make it faster and easier, especially with a vibrator.”
Early studies of Viagra, Cialis, and Levitra and women found it didn’t work very well, but scientists say those studies weren’t thorough enough and included females with desire disorders who, like men with such problems, can’t be cured by Generic Viagra.
As with males, Viagra gets the blood flowing to the genitals in females. For women who have difficulty achieving orgasm, vaginal dryness or a lack of vaginal sensations, arousals or clitoral erection, buying Viagra may help.
In a recent study of hundreds of women who either were post-menopausal or had surgical hysterectomies and who all suffered from some form of sexual arousal problems, half were given Viagra and half were given a placebo. Doctors found that 57% of women taking Viagra reported improved sensation in the genital area, compared with 44% in the placebo group.
Many sexualtiy researchers say sexual problems are far more complicated in females than in males, and it’s not likely these types of ED medications will ever work as well for women as for men.
